Smugglers first race

Smuggler's first race on Thursday night N2 trap 3 with a couple of big dogs on her inside - just get a clear run girl and come off sound and then we can go from there. Not expecting miracles to happen she still only 15 months and green as grass.

The new pups progress

Both qualified first time out of a box at Cork so onwards and upwards :)

One did turn around so had to go back in a few trials later but second time came out albeit 10 behind the other dogs.

Latest is the blue bitch, Smuggler, is up to N2 after an 18.80 in a trial at Cork, came out much better and full of running at the pick up and is now entered for a 525 so in a few weeks she'll have her first race.

The black bitch is a lunatic and I'm having to do a bit more work with her but all being well a 2nd qualifying trial in a few weeks.

2nd Hand Slip at Banteer

Second hand slip today at Banteer both found time as expected.

The Blu Bitch did middle 1510 (26 spots improvement) railed all way around chased hard.

The Black Bitch did middle 1495 (85 spots improvement) ran middle much better at bend than 1st time.

Will take to Curraheen in 2-3 weeks for qualifying trials.

Banteer trip succesful

Hand slipped in the end both chased hard and 1st bitch made a right horlicks of the first bend but chased all the way to the pick up so would think next time she'll handle the bend much better and find plenty on the clock. Middle split 15.80

The 2nd flew around, slightly hesitant at first bend but much better than 1st bitch chased hard and full of running at pick up, middle split 15.36

Don't think either will have any problems qualifying in May (that's the plan in any case)

Both mad for it so am well pleased and with Ballymac Floss pups always plenty to come with age.

Joyful reaches the Bitches FINAL at Tralee

After a quick knockout from the Oaks, once again badly drawn and nowhere to run Joyful has managed to qualify for the bitches Final on Champions night this Friday - again though a bad draw in 4 with 3 fast starters on her inside it looks tough and I'd be happy if she makes the first 3!

I'm off to Turkey on Thursday for 2 weeks so unable to go watch her, another opportunity for my friend Wayne, who's travelling over from UK this weekend, to pick up a trophy but it's a big ask of her from 4 - still you never know.

Good luck Joyful!

No sign of Flossy returning in UK yet and the Dorando is less than 2 weeks away - hopefully she'll be back very soon as I would love to see her win that race!

Flossy SOLD

Yes, she's been sold by a good friend of mine but NOT to Dubai or the Sheiks.

John Mullins will continue to train her.

She's been a fantastic bitch to own and I have great memories taking her to the Ted Hegarty etc

I wish Flossy's new owners every success with her! OI OI Flossy!

In she goes again

Flossy wins again the best race I have seen her in yet, she's on fire and thanks goes to John Mullins for doing a superb job training her. Cheers John!

On to Swindon next week for the Marathon there and all being well Coventry for another 1K competition and before you know it the Dorando :-) What a thrill it is to own such a greyhound! OI OI Flossy!

Flossy at Hove 930 Metres Tuesday night on SKY TV Odds On

"while John Mullins’s extraordinary Ballymac Swift can again run her rivals ragged from the outset to take the 8.19 over 930m"

I hope you are right Mr Kay - come on the Flossy!

Joyful 2nd in an A2 stake at Tralee

Joyful 2nd again in an A2 stake (550 yards) to a good dog that they refused 25K for last year - she keeps finding a good AAO dog to beat her in the finals of these stakes although she was closing him down on the run so she looks sure to be good class over 575.

Was in two minds whether to sell her, train her myself from home, or leave her with trainer and decided to keep her with Denis and aim her at all the bitch competitions this year, she probably not quite good enough to win one but certainly good enough to compete in them and who knows she might get lucky in one.

She's certainly as good a bitch as we've had over 4 bends when you consider in her 6th race she has done 30.21 for 550 at Tralee, Droopys Dior did 30.10 at Cork and she was no slug herself.

Joyful is only July 11 so has plenty of racing ahead of her all being well :-)

The Oaks at Shelbourne next is the plan in a couple of weeks and to qualify a few rounds would be nice!

Coventry Marathon Final for Flossy

Trap 1 - in her old days that was always the dream draw but not sure it's essential for her nowadays - a clean break and a clean race and she has a good chance so hoping for the best and flying over on Saturday.

Puppy Oaks 1st round at Shelbourne

Trap 2 for Joyful on Saturday night - a good draw so fingers crossed!

No luck, the winner had flown and Joyful was squeezed up out of boxes.

Not sure where next with her?

Another win for Flossy at Coventry in Marathon Heats

Flossy is certainly firing on all cylinders now, John Mullins has her running at the top of her game showing she does not have to lead to win - very pleased with her and flight booked for trip to FINAL this weekend so fingers crossed for a clear run.
