Joyful reaches the Bitches FINAL at Tralee

After a quick knockout from the Oaks, once again badly drawn and nowhere to run Joyful has managed to qualify for the bitches Final on Champions night this Friday - again though a bad draw in 4 with 3 fast starters on her inside it looks tough and I'd be happy if she makes the first 3!

I'm off to Turkey on Thursday for 2 weeks so unable to go watch her, another opportunity for my friend Wayne, who's travelling over from UK this weekend, to pick up a trophy but it's a big ask of her from 4 - still you never know.

Good luck Joyful!

No sign of Flossy returning in UK yet and the Dorando is less than 2 weeks away - hopefully she'll be back very soon as I would love to see her win that race!

Flossy SOLD

Yes, she's been sold by a good friend of mine but NOT to Dubai or the Sheiks.

John Mullins will continue to train her.

She's been a fantastic bitch to own and I have great memories taking her to the Ted Hegarty etc

I wish Flossy's new owners every success with her! OI OI Flossy!

In she goes again

Flossy wins again the best race I have seen her in yet, she's on fire and thanks goes to John Mullins for doing a superb job training her. Cheers John!

On to Swindon next week for the Marathon there and all being well Coventry for another 1K competition and before you know it the Dorando :-) What a thrill it is to own such a greyhound! OI OI Flossy!

Flossy at Hove 930 Metres Tuesday night on SKY TV Odds On

I hope you are right Mr Kay - come on the Flossy!

Joyful 2nd in an A2 stake at Tralee

Joyful 2nd again in an A2 stake (550 yards) to a good dog that they refused 25K for last year - she keeps finding a good AAO dog to beat her in the finals of these stakes although she was closing him down on the run so she looks sure to be good class over 575.

Was in two minds whether to sell her, train her myself from home, or leave her with trainer and decided to keep her with Denis and aim her at all the bitch competitions this year, she probably not quite good enough to win one but certainly good enough to compete in them and who knows she might get lucky in one.

She's certainly as good a bitch as we've had over 4 bends when you consider in her 6th race she has done 30.21 for 550 at Tralee, Droopys Dior did 30.10 at Cork and she was no slug herself.

Joyful is only July 11 so has plenty of racing ahead of her all being well :-)

The Oaks at Shelbourne next is the plan in a couple of weeks and to qualify a few rounds would be nice!

Coventry Marathon Final for Flossy

Trap 1 - in her old days that was always the dream draw but not sure it's essential for her nowadays - a clean break and a clean race and she has a good chance so hoping for the best and flying over on Saturday.

Puppy Oaks 1st round at Shelbourne

Trap 2 for Joyful on Saturday night - a good draw so fingers crossed!

No luck, the winner had flown and Joyful was squeezed up out of boxes.

Not sure where next with her?

Another win for Flossy at Coventry in Marathon Heats

Flossy is certainly firing on all cylinders now, John Mullins has her running at the top of her game showing she does not have to lead to win - very pleased with her and flight booked for trip to FINAL this weekend so fingers crossed for a clear run.

Sunday, 14 April 2013

Flossy at John Mullins kennels

Flossy at the kennels - a good race to look forward to tonight - Mallogs has a good draw so Flossy going to have to be fast away and gone.

One of them night's

Joyful squeezed from the off in Tralee A2 Final but ran on well to be 2nd. Think she'd have won it with a clear run. Off to Shelbourne for a trial next week in readiness for the Puppy Oaks in 3 weeks time.

Flossy not out as well as can be and badly baulked at 1st bend at Romford could never recover. Back to Coventry for the Marathon competition in 2 weeks all being well.

That's the way it goes sometimes.

Joyful Charm

Joyful deserves a blog posting won on her debut in Tralee in 28.79 only 12 spots slower than the Juvenile Classic, had a long wait with her as some problems with her when first bought her but the wait has been worth it, was an impressive debut.

Was entered for an A2 bitches stake in Shelbourne but only 2 entered so it's back to Tralee for a 550 stake this Friday, trap 5 a slight hindrance but expecting her to win this one. She needs the experience of racing and 550 she'll get with ease so hopefully out and gone and win comfortably, that's the plan in any case then up to Shelbourne all being well for a race or a trial with main aim the Puppy Oaks.

Coventry Sunday great card very good Marathon

Coventry Sunday great card very good Marathon

Trap 1 which is nice and our old rival Gaga in 2 with the very useful Capoley Ash in 6 as well as Pony Bride who seems to stay. A real good galloping track so fingers crossed she gets a clear and puts in a good run. With the wide bends at Coventry she should be able to pass a few dogs unlike Crayford. A good race and certainly a few with chances in it.

She don't like Crayford

These race comments sum up Crayford for me and Swift really not suited to the track with such short straight's doesn't give her time to stretch out and pass a dog as for passing on a bend not easy there! Bumped and Crowded for every dog in the race. She's come off sound and will show her stuff on a galloping track before to long.

Flossy out of Golden Jacket :-(

Flew out the box so fast she lost her footing after a few steps and from then on was race over, she ran on at the end but could never give that much of a start away to that class of greyhound. She's come off sound and will be entered for the Marathon on Saturday, which should be much her preferred distance so fingers crossed she doesn't start like that again and gets a clean run.

Good luck to all next week's Golden Jacket finalists!

Boots is now sold and moving on to Belle Vue, a track that should suit him and hopefully the penny will drop with him for his new owners.

Flossy 3rd and qualified through to the semi's

Flossy 3rd and qualified, her first good workout in 6 weeks so hopeful of a bit of improvement next week and fingers crossed to qualify for the FINAL :)

It's definitely on the short side for her though.

Was a mad trip over, arrived at Dartford about 5pm then out for a few beers before on to the track. Met up with Wayne and Jeff, good to meet people from the forums. Back at 1pm on Sunday a bit worse for wear after a few voddies and sambooka shots in Dartford town centre, bit of a dump the place is but great craic and would be more than happy to go back in 2 weeks for the FINAL! :-)

Draw for Saturday's semi-finals (live on SIS)

New bitch pup Joyful Charm

A July 11 out of Broadacres Turbo x Fast Driver

Has shown us some good pace in unrecorded trials, still not sure how good she might be but promising trials so far.

Would like to have another runner in the Mike Cronin Unraced Stake at Tralee, now called the GMHD Juvenile Classic and still a prestigious competition to aim for, kicks off in Feb, if she's not good enough a small stake somewhere to get her started off.

A lovely looking bitch and 66 pounds so plenty of size about her.

I'll upload some pictures of her when I can find them on my computer!

Is Boots back?

A 3 month lay-off and an injury sorted, he seems sound now and a recent 15.92 trial at Monmore, not bad, and a 480 coming up will tell us more. Hopefully Boots is back! He did do some great trials at Tralee unrecorded so it's a case of fingers crossed, onwards and upwards. He's nearly two, he will be in February but has only had a handful of races so is very much like a puppy and who knows, time will tell if he is any good or not.

Only an estimated 29.60 today at Monmore - he's not race fit but doesn't seem to be at the standard we are looking for. Anyone interested in buying him let me know. Has very good early pace!

5th Feb - Boots is not back, a poor trial today at Monmore looks like he is on his way to Perry Barr and sold. A huge disappointment :-(

Golden Jacket 2013 1st round

Well Flossy has had 3 very satisfactory trials at Crayford and is running the track well, now all we hope for is a good draw in the 1st round and some luck in running from off the back. 714 metres isn't far enough for her but it is 8 bends and that plays to her strengths. Fingers crossed!

Flossy leaves for a UK campaign

Flossy going over the water today with Donal Croke to be trained by John Mullins with obvious aims for all major UK Marathon competitions until she returns home in the Autumn for another tilt at the Ted Hegarty Marathon 2013.

Sorry to see her go but there is nothing for her in Ireland as she does need extreme distances so it was either sell her, we refused a 5 figure offer but prefer to take a chance and have some fun over the pond with her.

She was in the Racing Post on Wednesday as "One to follow in 2013" even tipped to be this years Dorando Marathon winner - I hope she can live up to expectations!

Already missed her this lunchtime as no dog to take out for a walk!

Safe voyage over Flossy.
